Which modules for
a start? |
To cover the classic sounds from the past to
the future GtrGear suggests |
Twin, Vox, SL(2)
and Recto modules as a starting point.
This makes you own a |
Fender, AC30, Marshall and Mesa/Boogie
Rectifier®
(is a classic to be!) |
Of course you can choose the DeLuxe-module if
you are into cicken pickin' country, the |
Bassman-module if SRV is your Pride
&
Joy or
the ModernHighGain-module if Soldano is your game.

Can I use besides the EL34 also 5881, 6550,
6L6, KT77, KT88 powertubes? |
Yes, without a problem. Just be sure you bias, just you always do after
retubing. |
Because of the external bias adjustment on every
Egnater amplifier it's a piece of cake for any |
guitarist. You don't have to be a rocket scientist.
If you are not sure about this, give us a |
call and GtrGear is happy to help you without
making a profit. |

6V6 safe to drop the powerhandling? |
6V6
powertube requiers less plate
voltage than an EL34 or 6L6 type powertube does,
but the |
plate
voltage is a given fact you can't change in an amp. (this is not bias!) |
The only 6V6
that we know of that is safe at the plate voltage in the Egnater
amps is made by JJ. |
MOD100: 4x 6V6 around 40 watts in high power and 12 watt in low. |
MOD50: 2x 6V6 around
18 watts in high power and 4 watt in low. |
Groove Tubes selected JJ/Tesla 6V6
optional only at GtrGear. |

Are the old single-channel and the new
dual-channel modules interchangable? |
Yes, but you can only select 1 sound from a
dual-module/single-module-chassis. |
Technically the single-module-chassis can't 'read'
there is a dual-module. |
A single-module functions properly in a new
dual-module-chassis without any problem. |
Unfortunately you have 1 sound a module were you
could have 2 sounds! |
Considering a new M4 preamp containing 4
single-modules you get 4 sounds and not 8! |
Summary: old and new chassis' and modules can
technically be combinated. |
A single-module can't provide dual
sounds, a dual-module can provide a single sound. |
