Design |
A combination bucket
brigade pitch modulating analog chorus and opto-based phase |
modulation 'vibe' (in
a chorus configuration). |
In stereo
configuration, each effect is spread out to individual channels to
build wide |
evolving soundscapes.
Mono operation
automatically adds the two effects into a single channel
configuration. |
Independent level
controls over each modulation effect gives versatile control over |
everything from light
chorusing to deep 'vibe-y' swirl. |
What does the Halo
Chorus sound like? |
Being able to layer
the phase modulation with the traditional chorus pitch modulation |
really gives a
different feel and depth to this type of effect, both in mono and
stereo operation. |
Mono / Stereo setup |
Unlike traditional
stereo choruses which invert the phase of the same chorus effect
before mixing it with
the second channel output, the Halo Chorus assigns a different
type of effect (pitch
modulation and phase modulation) to each output channel to give
a unique stereo
experience. |
Phase
inversion of channel two's output is
seperately available using the 180 degree |
toggle switch - either
to correct phase differences between two amps or as an effect
in it's own right. |
Powersupply |
24 VDC centre positive! |

Expression pedal |
We've found the
Boss EV-5 to give the best utility and feel of expression pedals |
tested so far.
It's low maximum resistance does limit the LFO range, but gives
a |
nice controlled
feel throughout this range. |
Trick |
Modulation can be
completely turned off using the rotary switch in the CH DEPTH
control to use the
delay path as a signal 'thickener' (where the delay is
perceptually |
so short
that it is no longer heard as an
echo). |
